A while back we had a discussion on the Ultimate metal forums about Borknagar merch where we asked for input and ideas from our fans, friends and followers. I would like to take that discussion a step further here as I have received some requests and questions following the post I made with the new shirt at Rockmerch.
We have never made loads of items and motives and you’ll find that we’re not turning into a clothing store with the new Rockmerch deal either. I’d rather have us make some good stuff that we all like to wear and use. And I find that my personal taste isn’t always in sync with what everyone else wants. For example I would love to have a propper beer mug with the Borknagar serpent, but I’m not sure that would be very popular across the board.
I dug into my closet and found a couple of old shirts that are still not all worn out. The left one being an old tour-shirt from 1998-99 and the second one the official Quintessence shirt. Both made by Century Media.

So let’s hear it from you guys. What do you like to see? Hoodies, girlies, long sleeves? Would you want a poster or flag? Or maybe even a jacket?
I can say this much; the next motiv I’m looking at is rather special and very different form anything we have done before.

As I happen to own exactly these 2 shirts and they are worn out – I’d prefer you don’t make them again. They would lose their appeal and speciality. I’d rather go for the zipper (important it is a zipper, people prefer them instead of hoodies) of a new crazy and beautiful design, any designs done were awesome in the past. Keep it up that way and see you soon maybe.

That some cool artwork, but to me, I don’t think it fits in with Borknagar’s music. Too much gore, the imagery I get with the music is more grand and etheral, but with a darkness to it.
There never seems to be good womens merch for alot of the bands I like. Usually just a girlie T, which is cool, but I like tanks. I’m also a big fan of the long sleeved shirts.
I’d like to see some olden domain or 1st album type designs out or 4 elements.I was just searching the web yesterday for old type designs of borknagar shirts in fact

t-shirts for Archaic Course! (and for all albums as well :p) pendants, posters, cups or other stuff like this are also great idea! : )
1. Never just use the album art on the front unless the album art is something simple. Borknagar album art is usually never simple.
2. Never use pictures of yourselves on shirts. You guys have made this mistake on almost every shirt I’ve seen.
3. Get someone to make some new art or start using something else from Munthe’s drawings than the dragon.

FLAGGGGGG!!!! I would would love nothing more than to have a fine Borknagar flag to hang on my wall. Maybe something with the Universal cover art, or Empiricism art\band photo. Please honor this request!
Re-releasing the first album and Olden Domain longsleeves would be epic!
I have a long sleeve T from the Olden Domain days and the short-sleeve T with the band logo and dragon from the Universal US release. I prefer that design on a long sleeve…. maybe with some sort of runic borknagar-ish phrase along the sleeves? The idea of the dragon pendant is really appealing, too.

The Dragon Pendant already exists and you can get one if you buy the Universal Boxset – well, if there are some copies available.
Jens: Borknagar is one of the most well known and respected/revered norwegian black metal bands. You MUST have merch available to sell. Most of Borknagar fans wants to have an original shirt or hoodie instead buying a bootlegged one – I did it cause I had no choice and I guess the rest of us did it for the same reasons.

if you guys would ever do a girly shirt, make it a fancy one! Reading posts from the girls on Ultimate Metal forum, i noticed that those girls who like it simple had already bought themselves a smaller sized male shirts and are happy with them. Now, for those of us who like to wear GIRLIES, please make something sexy and fancy with artwork bigger than an inch across and more intricate than simply dragons logo or letters. Tank tops and spaghetti tops would be most perfect! And thanks for listening to our requests! ^^
WHITE SHIRTS!
I really like the shirt on the left. The shirt on the right doesn’t appeal to me as much.
I’m a girl, and most girly shirts are pretty lame. It feels like they are designed for “the girlfriend” of a male metal fan and not an actual fan. I find the fit of the girly shirt to be awkward too, and often coming in smaller sizes that end up being like a child’s t-shirt on me. So I stick with the men’s shirts since they are superior in design, and they can be easily altered to fit much better.
I love t-shirts, maybe a bandanna, beer mug sounds cool. I also like patches.
Hoodies are a must as well. a jacket sounds like a nice idea to me. I’ve not seen many.
Oh, and designs on sleeves are wicked too! T-shirts, long-sleeves, hoodies.
I would love to see size Small t-shirts (something that many metal bands neglect is us smaller folks…) and maybe a shirt that is any color other than black. I’m quite tired of metal bands all only having black shirts, I was so relieved when Solefald and Ulver released red shirts a couple years back for the “Icelandic Odyssey” albums and “Blood Inside” respectively.
